The place was virtually empty when we arrived, I was nervous at first. The chips and salsa was very good. The Chimichanga was great! The Tacos Toro was great!! The kids loved their Taco Kits. I requested hotter salsa for the chips, then also used it for my Chimichanga. The only down was no fountain drinks or Iced Tea.

Delicious. Portions are generous. I had the fish tacos as the entrée and the cheese fondue as appetizer. I would have preferred natural juice options instead of sodas to add to the authentic Mexican food experience. Other than that, I liked the restaurant and I will definitely come back for more.

This is a real gem in broward! I no longer need to drive to homestead when I'm craving delicious authentic Mexican food. We ordered the wet burrito, enchiladas, quesadilla and flautas. Everything was amazing and tasted homemade. My kids are picky when it comes to Mexican and they loved it. They are still new and don't have their beer and wine license yet. Chips and salsa is not free so don't expect to get it when you sit down... ask for it... it's well worth the $1.95. Jonathan was our server... he is excellent! Oh and don't forget to order the churro to compete your meal!

Bought a groupon for the restaurant and it couldn't have turned out better. It was $10 for $20 worth of food and I came on the best night, taco Tuesday. Walked out with 15 tacos ($1 each) and their cheese chorizo dip for my friends. Amazing good! Btw, I went in at 7:00pm and had no trouble with the restaurant being closed.

I love Mexican food and even though I was let down the last time I came, I decided I would try again. I went again this past Thursday around 2pm and AGAIN THEY WERE CLOSED. They had a little clock sign with the hands pointing at 4pm stating they would return at that time. Yet, on Yelp it says they were open as well as their business hours on the door. I just don't understand the owner's business model.... Close whenever you want? I don't get it. My friend pointed out there was a help wanted sign, maybe they don't have enough employees? Regardless, I don't see that as an excuse. If you're in the area and want good Mexican food, I'd suggest you try I Love Tacos about a mile away. Clearly they understand that in order to attract customers you have to BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Not to mention, the food at I Love Tacos is amazing. End rant.

I've tried 6 times to come here and they are always closed. It's 7:15pm and they are supposed to close at 9pm. They are closed now. I've tried Saturday's, weekdays. Ridiculous.

Great staff. Very quiet but, I think that is due to the location. I wasn't use to the Pico de gallo they had. It seemed course going down. We immediately asked for their other two salsas which seemed well made. I had the burritos which is usual for me. The salsa seems to be on everything they make so if you like it then you will love your meal. I had a good experience with my wife and kids. I probably won't revisit this place as I prefer a different version of this Mexican than what they are offering but, don't let my review detour you from trying this place yourself. I believe they just got their liquor license so now they should have drink available as well. *parking can be interesting due to the gym a couple stores down.

El toro is great. Great food. Great service. Problem is last 5 times I've gone it's been closed like at 4pm and way before Its suppose to.. Haven't eaten there in a while cause of it.. Only reason they went 3 stars. Keep your place open!

Great food for a good price! Glad to have found this place... Next to LA Fitness so definitely a repeat spot for me now... Fresh and healthy!!

Not so good. Margarita was made without tequila since they don't have a liquor license yet, came with a lemon instead of lime, and no salt. Water was served without straws. A/C was also broken when I was there so that made eating less enjoyable. Tacos on menu said they came with sour cream and guacamole however they were served without it. Won't be back. I love tacos restaurant downy the street is much much better. Also parking is terrible in this shopping center. LA fitness takes up the whole plaza so plan on a far walk from your car to the front door of this place. Definitely won't be back. I'll be surprised if this place lasts through the end of this year.

This is a great Mexican Restaurant, the food is fresh and hand made, taste like home made Mexican food, my wife loves the fresh guacamole, and i like the burritos and the enchilada, John the waiter is excellent, he also speaks Spanish and Brazilian, very good service, owner Ricardo is always around checking all the tables and the service. Sangria is delicious and the food very tasty and made every day, does not taste like frozen food, Great Food, Great Service, nice location. You must try it Fernando DaCosta.

This is a new place amongst all the Cuban and Latin restaurants on pines...by far HANDS DOWN...the best I've had. Had the carnitas...slowed cooked pulled pork just melts in your mouth. My wife had the "wet burrito" stuffed with shredded chicken...fantastic! And my in laws shared a shredded beef chimichanga. The beef used was brisket which was also melt in your mouth tender. Easily going to be our go to Mexican place now. You need to try the fresh guacamole.

I am not a casual fan of Mexican food, in fact I will always go out of my way to find the most authentic Mexican culinary experience I can find "North of the Border". El Toro Mexican Grill has started doing business with a soft opening last week, as they gear up for their grand opening in the next couple of weeks. The food today was very good, I had a Tampiqueño steak platter, and found it was as good as any I've had in any of my travels through Mexico. El Toro has my attention! I am looking forward to return and rate this promising establishment again and give it another star after their soft opening, by then they should have the full menu, plus their liquor license and also finished decorating.

We've been there a number of times since they opened. The first few times the food was great, but the atmosphere was lacking. Didn't care for the cheap feeling lightweight outdoor furniture or the general lack of warmth in the place. Fine though since the food was good. Right around the time they expanded the bar area the food went downhill. We tried it a few more times but it really settled into mediocrity. Fast forward to last night when we'd wanted to give it another shot, only to find a sign on the door that the owner had not been paying rent and that they were barred from entering the space. The place had potential, but it looks like it's too late ND they've gone out of business.

We decided to give a new restaurant a try. Unfortunately, I don't think they are ready for business. The staff were confused and inefficient. We ordered chips and salsa (which you pay for) but we got chips and chunks of onion and tomatoes. They messed up one of our orders twice which came out 25 minutes before the rest of the food. The food tasted good but it was not Mexican. It was a Latin interpretation of Mexican food.

We normally go to our usual mexican joint but we found this place on Groupon and normally we stick with what we know but we do not mind trying new places. I think the food was great, very authentic and very fresh. The place is clean including the restrooms and the service was very professional, we recommend it, and trust me, we are always looking for good mexican food.

After moving to So Fl 20 years ago from So Calif., my wife and I had all but given up on our search for GOOD Mexican food anywhere in Florida... Finally found it here! The food is excellent, great service and reasonable prices. So happy we have found a Mexican place we love in So Fl and it is in our neighborhood! We intend to be regulars. They really need to be around here a very long time. If they keep it up, they might just change my mind about moving back to the Southwest for decent food.

We have been searching for a great Mexican Restaurant and finally found one! It was well worth driving out west. The owner was awesome and the food was incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious. The wet burrito was amazing! The Margarita was the best one I've ever had. We will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone!

My new favorite Mexican restaurant. Being part Mexican it's hard to find real authentic good food w/out having to drive to homestead. We ordered the tampiquena, the skirt steak burrito, tacos de carnitas, and the fresh guacamole.Everything is fresh, prices are reasonable, the service was friendly and great! They just opened a few weeks back and going to start delivery too. A def must try!!! Can't wait to go back for happy hour for 1/2 half appetizers and try their yummy margaritas & micheladas!!

Can you say delicious. This is definitely a new gem for south Florida. If you are craving AUTHENIC Mexican food this is an absolute must! You can taste the quality and richness in their food. The tacos are AMAZING. I mean theBOMB.com . The BEST Mexican cuisine in Pembroke Pines!

Food was O-kay. Service O-kay. I had a new waitress and I don't think the owner took his time to explain the plates on the menu to her. Waitress tried her best. I had the chimichanga, it was okay. Won't mind eating here again. I've had worst.

I tried the enchiladas with carnitas, steak, and chicken and the flavors were really good :) I am very happy to have another Mexican location. Just wished they would include the chips and salsa! It's still missing liquor license too! But again, the flavors were solid Mexican! I will come back. Just wanted add, for those who want to compare this place with" I love tacos", in my opinion the food in El Toro is better priced, you could order tacos a la carte giving more options, and less greasy than across the street!

Every dish was delicious. Great prices and great meals! My husband had wet burrito and I had flautas. The sauces with the chips were yummy. We ordered a dessert the churro and it was delicious.

We just found this treasure hidden in Pines. The food was beyond amazing. Freshly prepared and flavorful. The margaritas are the best I've tasted and the service was top notch. The churro was surprisingly delicious filled with cheesecake! I found my new favorite spot.

I am so happy that we finally have a great mexican place in the neighborhood! We are from Miami lakes originally and we loved cancun grill and thought we would have to travel down there for good mexican food forever. This place is reminiscent of it except for the chips and salsa. Don't get me wrong, they are pretty good here too, the only difference is that the chips are flour tortillas instead of corn. Personally I prefer the corn. The food is great and the service is great as well. It's a great local family owned place and I will definitely go again!!!!

I was a looking forward to a beer with dinner so the reviews here saying there was no liquor license almost sent me away. They have beer and wine and make a Margarita that is wine based. I did not try it. The food was great everyone in the family was happy which is hard with the kids. The only reason this place isn't getting five stars is the decor. It's a new non chain restaurant and they went with low end tables and chairs which makes sense. We will be going back hopefully they find success and buy new chairs.

For an authentic and fresh Mexican meal, you need to come here. My favorite are the chicken enchiladas with the green salsa. The beans are perfectly moist and rice has so much flavor! Love this place!! And I've been everywhere for Mexican.

I must say that driving in this plaza one day and seeing a sign for a new Mexican Restaurant I was quite the skeptic. I thought to myself, "great, more borderline horrible Mexican, exactly what we don't need". But, being the taco y burrito junkie my husband and I are, we give any new Mexican joint an attempt or two to impress us before we give up and go back to driving 35 mins north for our weekly burrito fix. Well I don't know how to express our experience other than in this love letter below... Dear El Toro, we have had our (wanna be) Mexican hearts broken time and time again but you my friend (or should I call you amigo?). You have made us believe in second, no third, or is it fifth....anyway you made us believe in giving south Florida another chance at Mexican food and I now believe that real love, I mean real Mexican food does exist in south Florida (outside of Homestead!). Thank you for actually being authentic (from scratch) and rescuing our stomachs and hearts from the shameful canned and American cheeses, the Publix tortillas, and the ridiculous nights of jarred salsas at your local competitors. No, I know you can't believe it, but ssshhhhh...that's all in our past now. Thank you for actually having a Mexican on the premises who obviously knows what he/she is doing. Thank you for your Jarritos, your steak tacos with onion and cilantro (not gringo style cheese and *shudder* iceberg lettuce), your perfectly marinated shredded chicken enchiladas verde, and your refried beans (because there's a song that says they are good for the heart). Thank you for telling me you will carry fried ice cream and offering that fattening yet yummy ridiculous and worth every calorie churro instead. I gained a pound, yet it changed my life. And El Toro? This was all during takeout. *tears welling up*. We can't wait to come back, dine in, and try some other dishes. P.S. please knock a couple of dollars off of your menu prices so we can enjoy your takeout more often. You are a bit pricey for a shopping mall spot. P.P.S. Please include an order of chips/salsa with "to go" orders. It only feels right! ;-)

We were greeted at the door and waiter was very friendly. We went on a Saturday night and the place had only two other tables. We started with the Chips and salsa which the salsa is fresh but not so much salsa as tomatoes and onions. We had the wet burritos and they were average. Shredded beef with with a side of rice and beans.

I came here because of the superb reviews however it was closed despite the fact that the business hours stated that it would be open until 10 pm. I went at 5. What a disappointment.

Unfortunately when I went the service was awful. We walked in and everyone behind the "hotel" like check in area was standing around chatting. One gentlemen who seemed to be the owner or manager was tucking his shirt in to his pants at the time in front of us. The restaurant smelled like bug spray and the food was mediocre. I'm not going to a sit down and paying for chips and salsa- I personally think the chips and salsa at Lime fresh Mexican grill are better. The food did not taste home made and felt very re-heated. Our drinks came out incorrect and the experience was a disaster. For three people, at lunch with no alcohol, we spent almost $65 and barely ate. Not a great find.

This is THE Mexican restaurant to go to in West Miramar/ Pines. The food here is top notch. The ingredients are fresh, there's no doubt about it. The Queso Fundido with Chorizo is amazing. The creaminess coupled with smokiness just delight the palette. What's more impressive is the prices. I would expect food of this quality to cost more. You can easily come here and feed your family. I'm looking forward to my next visit I liked it so much.

Very authentic, good portions, and awesome food. I'm sure once they put up the bar that it'll be a chillin place to grab a beer

This is the worse Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food had no flavor just spicy. The beans were watery and the portions small. We had the wet burrito which had no flavor and very little sauce. The tacos & the quesadilla were also without any flavor. The prices are $9-15 and very expensive for what is received. They don't even offer chips and salsa as it is extra. They ran out of several items . Overall it was a BIG Disappointment. My son said even Taco Bell is better. Definably don't eat here.

Wanted Mexican for dinner, saw the Yelp reviews and drive 16 miles one way (according to Mapquest) to give this place a try. A small place stuck back in a mall and way out on Pines Blvd.. At 6 pm on Saturday, they were almost empty. The server (John W.) was excellent, I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't bring chips and salsa as soon as you are seated but they do not. When I asked John for it he brought chips and Pico de Gallo ( also called salsa fresca, is a fresh, uncooked salad made from chopped tomato, white onion, and chilis (generally jalapeños or serranos). Nothing was said about it costing $ 1.95 which, after asking about it they didn't charge me for it. On the menu it is listed "chips & salsa". Pico de Gallo is listed as a side for $ 1.50.. I ordered the wet burrito which was good. The portion was good but the quantity of rice and beans should have been larger for the price ($ 11.95).. They have a good menu for appetizers, lunch and dinner. My experience was good but not great. I will not drive the 16 miles again but I would recommend this place to someone in the area.

Great place. Was there for the opening and just went back again a second time. Food was excellent and enjoyed some cold beer with it. The carnitas are great and the fajita combo was outstanding. This is not Taco Bell, this is authentic Mexican food done well.

Visited El Toro thanks to all the good reviews on Yelp! If you are in the mood for a good Mexican restaurant in Pembroke Pines, this is the place. Food was great (steak taco's) recommend the green sauce if you like a hint of spicy. Had a taste of the Margarita and the mix was just right! I will be going back for the fajitas!!!

Service was outstanding. Steak tacos were good. Salsa could use some work. I still don't get these Mexican restaurants that charge for chips and salsa. Need some pulse in this place though. Needs a salsa bar for starters. Coming from California I still continue my search for a great place to enjoy Mexican food. Bottom line good food, fair price, no pulse or Mexican atmosphere though. Mexican food joints should be fun, I can't say I had fun. Hopefully they make it.

JMy husband and I just had lunch here, I had the wet burrito, EXCELLENT! The service was great, very friendly owner and wait staff! The food was first rate, authentic and VERY delicious! The prices are very affordable, you get the rice, beans, guacamole, and pico with your meal, no need to order them al a carte. Great to have an authentic Mexican restaurant with very reasonable prices in the neighborhood! Will definitely be a regular there!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
